NCIC’s Economic Development Team provides leadership and infrastructure management initiatives that enable our communities and region to compete in a national and worldwide economy.
Within the last several years NCIC has committed to assisting food-related businesses to help strengthen existing businesses and encourage new start-ups. NCIC has worked to identify market opportunities for businesses to expand or grow into; helped identify funding sources for planning or implementing new projects; coordinated resources for those within the agricultural community; and has helped to market a sweet niche of the region—our maple syrup—along with offering our typical business support services to this sector. We continue to coordinate with other providers throughout Vermont and New Hampshire to improve service delivery and seek opportunities to expand production in the region while making agricultural businesses more efficient and profitable.

In 2009 NCIC unveiled NH Grand to promote tourism in Coos County and northern NH. NCIC also has partnered with Ride the Wilds, New England’s largest network of inter-connected ATV trails to help market their trail network. Recently, the North Country Economic Index which gauges the performance of the economy in northern New Hampshire has shown that the only part of the economy to increase was more travelers coming to the region and spending more money. Spending at lodging properties also rose for the eighth straight quarter. This is crucial to the economic vitality of the region, tourism provides direct benefits to business and, in turn, helps all residents in Coos County succeed. This year, NH Grand promotes over 40 tourism based businesses from Franconia to Pittsburg. If you are a tourism based business north of the Notches and are interested in finding out more about NH Grand, please contact Pam Sullivan.
When the region only had dial up, NCIC developed Wireless LINC which continues to deliver high-speed broadband internet to residents and businesses in both northern New Hampshire and Vermont. Service is currently available from North Stratford NH and Bloomfield VT in the north to Franconia and Lyman NH in the south and from Jefferson NH in the east to Barnet VT in the west. The technologies used are highly secure and easy to upgrade, thereby offering the region state-of-the-art performance both now and as demands increase.
