Xtra Innings Performance

Xtra Innings Performance (XIP) in Lyndonville (VT) provides strength conditioning and general health fitness training for people in the Northeast Kingdom. With a passion for athletics and fitness, XIP Founder Adrian Guyer knew he wanted to own and run a training facility. “As a young athlete growing up in Lyndonville, personal training wasn’t available to me,” said Adrian. “I wanted to start this kind of business to help push people to better themselves.”

Adrian experienced the importance of training for excellence as an athlete in high school and college. He earned a degree in exercise science at Lyndon State College in 2007. His time spent in physical rehabilitation after a car accident served as the catalyst that pushed him towards a career in personal training. As a lifelong local, he decided he wanted to stay in Lyndonville to pursue his passion and start a business. Adrian needed financing to make his dream a reality and turned to NCIC.

NCIC partnered with a local bank to finance XIP’s start-up expenses. NCIC also provided funds for the remaining startup costs such as inventory, furniture and fixtures and general startup expenses. Since the start-up, NCIC has provided business guidance and accounting assistance (Quickbooks training and support). “NCIC’s help was invaluable. I feel more confident about my business, my books, and they have really helped me grow,” said Adrian. He is planning to increase his space in the near future and is really excited for the next step.

Adrian has numerous programs for individuals and groups of athletes and/or personal fitness clients and employs two other personal trainers. He is excited about his business – and is thrilled to be active in the local community, coordinating fundraising events and working with local sports teams. “It is a pretty awesome feeling to have come full cycle and be back in my hometown doing what I love most with the people I care so much about,” said Adrian. “This has been my dream for a long time, and to now be living it is truly amazing.”
